The 应用科学副学士兽医技术 prepares students to perform veterinary procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian. Veterinary technicians are primarily employed in veterinary clinics 和 hospitals.

New students 应用ing to Black Hawk College should select the AAS/General Occupational 和 Technical Studies (GOTS) until such time as they have been officially accepted by the department into this program.

兽医技术入学要求

高中毕业或同等学历.

申请人将模仿CVT, 从而可以, or RVT for a minimum of 40 hours in an animal care facility under the direction of a licensed veterinarian. A completion form must be signed by the CVT, 从而可以, or RVT 和 veterinarian prior to application.

Interview with VT selection committee: the interview is part of a written 和 oral selection process.
A rabies vaccination is required prior to admission 和 required by many clinical sites.
All students must achieve grades of “C” or above in all courses required for the 兽医技术 program.
Students must achieve a grade of “C” or above in all VT courses to continue in the program. 期末成绩低于“C”将被开除.

Readmission is at the discretion of the program director 和 as space permits.

If any individual is aware of potential violations of the existing animal care 和 use regulations or observes misuse or mistreatment of animals, they are encouraged to discuss their concerns in person 和 report as necessary in accordance with Black Hawk College complaint resolution processes:

The complainant should first seek additional information by discussing the concerns noted in the form with the course instructor in order to clarify that there is not a perception error.

The 兽医技术 Program will not tolerate retaliation toward or harassment of any individual(s) who report actual or possible violations 和 will protect through anonymity the positions 和 reputations of those persons who in good faith make allegations of animal welfare violations.
